Koma.id – A Papuan traditional leader who is also the son of a former freedom fighter for Papua, Yanto Eluay, condemns the violent actions of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB). Instead of receiving international support, the violence has received criticism. Moreover, the KKB violence has greatly disturbed the people of Papua.

“The struggle for independence will fail if it is carried out by killing innocent civilians,” he declared on Saturday (18 February 2023).

He believed that the acts of violence carried out by the KKB would not attract international sympathy. In addition, they took hostage the Susi Air pilot, who is a foreign national.

“The violence committed by the KKB group led by Egianus Kogoya is no longer purely for an independent Papua. But it has led to the motive of seeking economic support and stomach problems,” he explained.

Moreover, they also abused civilians, including through village fund intervention.

“Law enforcement officials must act decisively and eradicate this group, because if allowed to drag on, this group will carry out other acts of violence,” he concluded.
